The Winter Shelter project has finished its first season, and what a tremendous success it has been! All who volunteered enjoyed a well-earned thank you meal on Saturday.

Thanks and praise to Penny Severn, Manna House Outreach and Development Officer, and her team of staff and volunteers whose dedication and hard work ensured 18 people had places to sleep in the coldest winter months.

The project also received praise from our local MP, Tim Farron, “Manna House do some amazing work in our community and help change peoples lives for the better. They do this through their help, support and their staff – the team led by Jonathan Brook works tirelessly to help local people. The love and compassion the team at Manna House show really does make a difference to vulnerable people in the winter and I am delighted to back their Winter Shelter campaign.”

Manna House was born in April 2002, initially housed on Kirkland, Kendal, and then moving to the Shakespeare Centre later that year. We moved to larger premises at Castle Lodge on Aynam Road in April 2010. In October 2018, we moved to the Stephenson Centre, off Ann Street, near Kendal station.
