This week at the Skills Café we were working on the theme of The Wind and the Sun, an Aeosop’s fable, where the wind and the sun have a competition to see who is most powerful.

Their challenge is to get a horseman riding by to take off his cloak. The Wind blows furiously and only makes the man pull his cloak tighter around him. The Sun comes out and radiates warmth and gentleness and – you’ve guessed it – the man disrobes without hesitation!

So we made sun and wind inspired plaques, learning from Janet how to roll the clay completely evenly and attach features using ‘slip’.  She will take our work away to fire in her kiln at nearly 1000 degrees! To be continued next week… All welcome for a spot more pottering then!
