Taking over after months of great work by host of volunteer chefs, catering professional Nela Geuer joined us at the end of June as our Learning Kitchen Manager (Head Chef). She has already got our kitchen running like clockwork and has lots of great plans for the future.


“I qualified as a chef in 1992 in Germany and moved to England in 1997. Throughout my career, I have worked in the fields of catering and education, including 4 years as Community Food Worker for the NHS, facilitating all sorts of food and health activities. I led training in practical food skills development to a wide range of people.

“Creating satisfying, affordable and healthy meals on a low budget and with restricted resources is one of my goals in everyday cooking and I believe that food and its production should be innovative, stimulating and fun.

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to share my passion for tasty and nutritious food with everyone here at Manna House.

“To relax I listen to music, dance, DJ, sing and drum as well as practising yoga, walking in the fells and spending time in my garden and allotment.”
