Our offices and drop-in at Manna House are closed from today, Friday 22 December, and re-open for full service again on Tuesday 2 January. In the meantime, the Winter Shelter continues until the morning of Sunday 24 December and re-opens again on Wednesday 27 December (and the Christmas Getaway takes place at Rydal Hall). Over this period, we will be looking after only the guests who have signed in by 3pm today until the offices re-open again, however, if you know of someone who urgently needs shelter, we can make an emergency assessment to add someone to the guest list at Manna House on the morning of Wednesday 27 December at about 11am outside Castle Lodge. Other sources of help while Manna House is closed include: the Community Café at South Lakes Foyer (by the bus station), which will be serving food from 11am to 4pm on Christmas Day, and South Lakeland District Council Housing Department who can be contacted in emergency throughout the holidays on 01539 793199. (Their offices are open from 27 to 29 December, too.)

Manna House was born in April 2002, initially housed on Kirkland, Kendal, and then moving to the Shakespeare Centre later that year. We moved to larger premises at Castle Lodge on Aynam Road in April 2010. In October 2018, we moved to the Stephenson Centre, off Ann Street, near Kendal station.
