After 2 hours of spine-tingling songs about welcome and standing up for our fellow human beings, the audience at our Winter Shelter Fundraiser on Saturday got to their feet to give 83-year old folk legend Roy Bailey a heartfelt ovation. At least one song – ‘Welcome’ – could have been written for the Shelter: ‘I’ll be there beside you, to stand up for your rights/I will harbor you; I’ll fight for you, as you would do for me/And when everyone is welcome, we will all be free.’ Roy, St George’s Church, the sound technician (Lyon Events), the photographer and Cumbria PR all donated their services and the concert raised over £1000 for the Shelter, which opens on Monday 19 November this year. Thank you!
