Local Quakers (members of the Society of Friends) are planning to ride from Cumbria to London in July to highlight inequality and put the case for better welfare support for the most vulnerable people in society. They set out on their bicycles from Swarthmoor Hall in the Lyth Valley on 21 July and arrive at the Houses of Parliament in Central London on 3 August. The event is called the Ride 4 Equality & the Common Good.

As part of the evidence they will be presenting to MPs of the damage done by recent benefit reforms, the Friends will be gathering stories on the way – staying at 12 different meeting houses – from people who are struggling. If you would like to take part, or contribute your story, just email Quakers4theCommonGood@gmail.com.
