On Friday Manna House volunteers, Trustees and our Volunteer Coordinator enjoyed a very civilised afternoon at the RHS gardens at Holehird meeting members of the 5 other local voluntary organisations nominated for this year’s Queen’s Awards for Voluntary Service (https://www.gov.uk/queens-award-for-voluntary-service). Our delicious afternoon tea was hosted by the Lord-Lieutenant for Cumbria, Claire Hensman (4th from left). Fingers crossed for all of us. The award winners will be announced on 2 June. Manna House was born in April 2002, initially housed on Kirkland, Kendal, and then moving to the Shakespeare Centre later that year. We moved to larger premises at Castle Lodge on Aynam Road in April 2010. In October 2018, we moved to the Stephenson Centre, off Ann Street, near Kendal station.
