This week we enjoyed twice the fun at Skills Café with Denise’s trio making sweet classical music on a variety of wind instruments and Chef Carl from the Merewood making delicious German meatloaf. Our Food Hygiene course next week is fully booked but normal Skills Café resumes on Wednesday 9 May when Nela will be making ‘colourful party food’. See you then!

This week in Skills Café Adam, our social worker student, gave us a fantastic morning of film making, documenting our “Life through a lens”. We made adverts for Manna House filming a typical day here. Thank you to Adam for sharing his talents – the film making in true Hollywood style is to be continued… next week!

We were so lucky to have the culinary talents of Chef Carl (head chef of the Merewood Hotel) at our recent Easter Feast Skills Café. He inspired us to make fresh asparagus tarts and homemade hot cross buns. A heavenly meal to celebrate Easter. He will be joining us again on 25 April with some more cheffy skills to share for a sausage-themed Wednesday morning session!

  • Manna history

    Manna House was born in April 2002, initially housed on Kirkland, Kendal, and then moving to the Shakespeare Centre later that year. We moved to larger premises at Castle Lodge on Aynam Road in April 2010. In October 2018, we moved to the Stephenson Centre, off Ann Street, near Kendal station.
