The winter shelter is an initiative organised by Manna House using a ‘Housing Justice’ model of shelter – utilising lots of different church buildings to offer accommodation to homeless people during the winter months. We are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful garden to look out over and enjoy. Many thanks must go to Beth Conroy, our gardening volunteers, and our clients who help out with horticultural tasks.   • Manna history

    Manna House was born in April 2002, initially housed on Kirkland, Kendal, and then moving to the Shakespeare Centre later that year. We moved to larger premises at Castle Lodge on Aynam Road in April 2010. In October 2018, we moved to the Stephenson Centre, off Ann Street, near Kendal station.
