Manna House

"Manna House works for the benefit of the public in South Lakeland, providing advice, advocacy and a drop-in support centre for those who are homeless, vulnerably housed, lonely or needing help."

Become a friend

It always surprises people to realise that Kendal has problems with homelessnes, but this town is no different from any other in the UK. Most of our clients find themselves in situations beyond their control and genuinely need someone to listen, help and care.

Manna House staff and volunteers provide so many services – hot meals, benefits advice, social support, Wednesday Workshops, listening, help with job hunting and cv writing, cooking skills, laundry and shower facilities – and each of these costs money to maintain and achieve the high standards to which Manna House holds itself. There is a lot to be done, and that is why we need your help!

Becoming a Friend of Manna House

To become a Member you pay a nominal subscription of £10 (min.) per year. We have get-togethers at regular intervals with refreshments. This provides the opportunity to meet other members and to exchange more fund raising ideas. We also have an AGM.

The F.O.M.s operates under the existing Charity registration, overseen by the Charity’s Trustees.

We anticipate that involvement with Friends of Manna House will be a worthwhile experience, exciting and a lot of fun. We now have beautiful badges at £2 each which we hope will be purchased by members and displayed with pride and will be a conversation opportunity to other potential members.

  • Manna history

Manna House began in 2003 at The Shakespeare Centre in Kendal. Due to an increased demand for our services, we moved to larger premises here at Castle Lodge in April 2011.
