Thanks to the magnificent generosity and vision of the Stephenson Trust, Manna House will have a new home in spring 2018. The Stephenson Centre, as we’re calling the building, is just off Ann Street in Kendal. Refurbishment will begin immediately and will include a purpose-built entrance, kitchen and offices. The building was the former home of Lowe Alpine in Kendal.
This week at the Skills Café we iced our Christmas cakes and then enjoyed a marvellous yoga session with Nes Bear who taught us how to relax and unwind. Her chocolate meditation was particularly well received! All welcome for a fascinating talk about where in the world our food comes from this week at with the gorgeous Gabi.
Winter Shelter training is going well, after two busy evenings at the Salvation Army – including sessions on Homelessness, Ethos, Vicarious Trauma and Real-life Scenarios – and our Team Leaders are busily putting together their rotas after 110 wonderful people (so far) responded to this year’s recruitment campaign. This week at the Skills Café we were stirring it up making Christmas cakes in readiness for the festive season. It certainly stirred up memories of Christmases past and we all made a wish for a happy and healthy 2018! We made two big cakes for the Manna House Christmas Getaway and also mini cakes – one for ourselves and one for a gift.
