Manna House

"Manna House works for the benefit of the public in South Lakeland, providing advice, advocacy and a drop-in support centre for those who are homeless, vulnerably housed, lonely or needing help."

A good time was had by all at Kendal Torchlight last Friday. The theme was ‘visions of Kendal’s future’ so we showed Kendal our vision via a cardboard tent to represent homelessness, words like ‘compassion’, and campaign headlines such as ‘cheaper rents’, ‘yes to DSS’ and ‘more support for addiction’. During the evening’s celebration we also raised money by selling burgers and chilli along with woolly hats!

We thought you might like to watch (and share) this myth-busting film from Doorway. It’s about young people who become homeless and features sensitive and intelligent accounts from some of the young people themselves. In Cumbria, and here in Kendal, sofa surfing can often be hidden but we know that youth homelessness is on the rise.
